Quieting the voice in your head
We all have the voice in our head but for some people that voice never stops.
What does your voice sound like? Is it encouraging and positive? Or is it negative and cautious. Telling you not to take that risk and to stay safe. Perhaps it is just constantly narrating your life, pre-empting situations and predicting what will happen.
Let's give your voice a name, make it a funny name or an insult. Choose something that you feel fits the character in your mind. Now whenever you notice the voice in your head popping up, maybe pre-empting a scenario before you even get there. Notice it and tell it to go away, or to be quiet, or other less polite variations on these!
The more you get into the habit of this the more you can ignore this voice, so you don't get sucked into the fake drama your mind is dreaming up. Maybe it's judging you or people around you. You do not have to listen to this voice. Get back in charge of your mind!
Another way is to only deal in facts. If the voice in your mind goes off on one and you notice it, notice what it is saying, is any of it true? What bits are true? what bits are actual facts and choose to only deal in facts.
If you are struggling with self doubt, low confidence or a loud negative self-talk, you do not have to continue in this way. There is a brighter, happier future waiting for you.
